Horace Hogan’s illustrious career dates back to 1973 New Jersey USA, where he played and toured with Chocolate Syrup. Touring with Final Act took him from the Garden State Art Centre in New Jersey to Capital Arena in Largo, Maryland. While performing with Papa Guye in St. Tropez, France they recorded the album "Back of the Bus" before Hogan migrated to Canada in 1976. Between 76 and 79 Hogan played with Tribal Funk, 513 Gladstone (70s), Moon Men, and Solid Brass. Throughout the eighties, while working at Barrymore's Lounge and Nightclub, he had the opportunity to jam and play with the likes of James Cotton, Robbie Creager, Georgie Fame, Doug and the Slugs, David Wilcox, Matt Murphy of the Blues Brothers Band, Albert Collins, Coco Taylor, Parachute Club, the Lola Falana Band, and many others. During this period Hogan also jammed with Don McLean and, subsequently, played with him at Ontario Place in Toronto and Carnegie Hall with the Jordannaires. He can be heard on recordings such as Dianne Tell, Surprise Band, and Jeaneau Bergeron of Montreal, with Jerry Mercer on drums, Breen Leboeuf on bass, and John McCale on guitar - produced by CBS records. In the past decade and a half Hogan has played with the Hammerheads, Mystery Creek, Roots Movement, and Brian Downing Big Band and was lead vocalist and percussionist of "Funky President's", a James Brown revue band.
